About Us

Wood and Windows is a small professional manufacturing organization with over 30 years experience offering custom commercial and residential casework for developers, designers, contractors, architects and home owners in Northern California. We assist in the design and layout of our client's projects and offer computerized drawings to show a total representation of what the project will appear when completed. We can also offer drawings with cabinet finishes, floors, countertops, lighting and wall treatments.

Our products include custom kitchen and bath cabinets, entertainment centers, built-ins, commercial store fixtures and displays and all types of casework. Only the most durable finishes are used, including pre-catalyzed lacquers, conversion varnishes and waterborne finishes. We use only the finest hardware available from Blum, Salice, Rev-a-Shelf, KV, Hafele and more and we also always provide soft closures on our doors and drawer fronts.

After spending over 22 years in Palo Alto our business moved to Mountain View after growing out of the space, a very difficult move after so long. Then after more than 5 years in Mountain View we wanted to add a finish room but didn’t have the space and zoning was an issue. So after looking for a few months we found our current building in Sunnyvale which was large enough to add a finish room and also met zoning requirements. Result, we moved hopefully for the last time.

We invite you to meet our fabulous crew.

It has been asked how the name Wood and Windows came about. The name Wood and Windows came to use in the 1970’s when Linda Corbett and John Goldschmidt opened a store in downtown Palo Alto offering custom woodwork and glasswork. Linda has long since pursued a successful career in landscape architecture but John has kept the name ever since continuing in the woodwork side of the business.

We would also like to acknowledge all the great work by Ambient Glow, Web Design and Hosting for Small Business, in designing and creating our newly revised website. Thanks Peggy.

Last I would like to acknowledge some of the people who have been of great support over the years. First Patricia Brown my beloved sweetheart and best friend for 25 years now, my sisters Joann and Joyce, my wonderful parents Jack and Barbara, Harry Heller who helped us get our first lease by having faith in us, Warren Thoits our landlord in Palo Alto, Mikel Hornsey, Terry Skyles, Jeff Potter, Bill Main, Fran Fisher, Michael Lueck of Brosswood Construction, James Del Vecchio of Del Vecchio Construction, Wayne Aleshire, Bill Hilton, Ernie Kabaluk, Richard Lee, Doug Pearson, Tim Hinz, the Jadallah’s, Peter Englander, and of course Linda Corbett.
