About Our Crew
John Goldschmidt
I have been the owner of Wood and Windows since 1979. I actually started dabbling in woodwork while in college in 1974 and loved it so much I headed off in that direction and to this day am still enjoying it as much as ever. I’ve realized there isn’t anything else I wish I had pursued. I work every day with my closest friends and get to provide a service and product to many wonderful people giving them something I know they will have for many years. Never a day goes by I don’t say my thanks for being able to do something I love so much
Pedro Martinez
Without Pedro I couldn’t be where I am today. Coming from Guatemala he has been with me over 14 years now and has always been my right arm and also a very devoted friend. Never a day goes by that I don’t say my thanks for him and his friendship. He has grown into a very professional business person and one of the most knowledgeable cabinet makers around and he not only wears the hat of those titles, but also that of a talented fine finish person. I sometimes think there isn’t anything he can’t do or figure out. Pedro is a wonderful man and he helps me tremendously in every aspect of our work.
Jorge Roque
Jorge has been working with us for over 10 years now and is related to Pedro and Hector, coming from Guatemala. He has become our most important contributor to the cutting and cabinet assembly, drawer box assembly, hardware installation, toe kick assemblies, double checking for accuracy, detailing and final adjustments on site, along with initial field measuring and much more. It sounds like he does it all and pretty much does. He takes such great pride in his detail and workmanship and it’s a pleasure to watch him work. It’s obvious he feels the same way about his work as I do, wanting to achieve the finest workmanship possible. As an added bonus he makes us all laugh a lot each day.
Father & Son Finishing
All of our finish work is done by Pedro and Hector Martinez, as Father & Son Finishing. They have a finish room inside our building dedicated to supplying the finest finishes available. Along with working alongside us in our cabinetry business for over 14 years, Pedro and his father Hector have been doing the finish work for Wood and Windows for over 10 years now. Having the finish work now within our building allows us to turn over our cabinetry on a timelier basis and give us much better control over what we are providing our client. Father & Son Finishing uses only the highest quality finishes, including pre-catalyzed lacquers, conversion varnishes and green waterborne finishes. They also work with glazes and dye stains. Their finishes give our clients long lasting years of quality and beauty that they expect and hope for.
Kevin Nichols
Kevin of Nichols Construction has been doing our cabinet installation for over 7 years now. Kevin became one of the links we were missing and needed. We always felt we produced great cabinets and provided great finish work, but we really needed a great installer. Hooking up with Kevin turned out to be a superb asset for us. He has always said that he loves the detail and finish aspect of his work and has shown that time and time again in our cabinet installation and all the work he does. Being a licensed contractor also enables him to work with lightning, plumbing, appliance installation and complete remodel work. For a great contractor you can find him at www.nicholsconstructionsite.com
Fred Gillam
Fred has been associated with us many years. Being a retired engineer, he has offered his talent to us in many ways, including what I call ‘dealing with those strange formulas’ for figuring things out on the unusual cabinets. Fred enjoys a challenge. Although Fred doesn’t work with us on a daily basis any longer (he’s truly retired) he still makes himself available to us when he’s needed, which sometimes is less than I would prefer. Fred has always been a true friend to everyone here and we really enjoy working with him.
Steve Jaeger
Even though Steve works with us very little now, being retired as a Palo Alto Police Officer and spending more time enjoying life, he has helped in so many ways over the years that I feel I always want to acknowledge him. I’ve known Steve since I was in Palo Alto, over 20 years ago, and Steve has always been there when I needed his help. He has a small woodshop set up in his garage and still does some smaller projects, keeping himself busy. He will always have my thanks for his friendship and support.
